LINN FRIDY (Academic Affairs Officer / Assistant to The Chair). Born and raised in Michigan, but got out of there as soon as I could, and moved to New York City where I stayed for 20 years. Broke the fun meter many times, and had a great job at NBC. But finally felt overwhelming desires to see the sky and get to the beach in less than three hours, so dragged the husband (kicking and screaming the whole way) to San Diego. I'm the Chair's assistant, manage all the academic personnel matters in the department, and handle the graduate travel funds.
